The Liu lab is interested in the centrosome and cilia, whose defects cause severe human diseases such as cancer, microcephaly, and ciliopathies. Because the centrosome and cilia are tiny cellular organelles, conventional microscopy fails to reveal their detailed architecture. In LIU lab, we leverage super-resolution fluorescence microscopy to study the centrosome and cilia and diagnose human diseases caused by their defects. By applying state-of-art techniques, we focus on mechanistic and translational studies that directly benefit patients.
